Micropigmentation FAQ’S
What is micropigmentation?
Micropigmentation is also known as “permanent cosmetics” or “permanent makeup”. Microblading is considered Micropigmentation as well. Micropigmentation is used to achieve a natural looking enhancement of shape and color of the lips, eyelash line and eyebrows. Micropigmentation ranges from a soft, powdery look applied with a machine, or crisp individual hair strokes created with a machine (microstrokes) or hand tool (microblading)
What’s the difference between Micropigmentation and Microblading?
Microblading is a form of micropigmentation for the brow area. Pigment is deposited into the very outer layer of skin with a hand tool (no machine) to create very thin, feathered strokes that mimic eyebrow hair. The result is a very soft, natural looking brow that does not last as long as microstrokes. Microstrokes are hair strokes that are applied with a machine, if done by an experienced artist microstrokes can look just as natural as microblading.
Is Micropigmentation a tattoo?
Both procedures use needles to implant pigment into the skin.
However the equipment, composition of pigments, and application techniques are completely different.
How long does micropigmentation last?
Because of the unique qualities of each individual’s skin and lifestyle, the results will last varying amounts of time from client to client. With microblading you may need a touch up every 6-12 month. With micropigmentation you will likely want a touch up every 12 -24 months. In general, permanent makeup will always be present. The intensity of your permanent makeup fades in the course of time. However, this is completely dependent from person to person. This is partly due to the natural cell renewal, the immune system and the influence of UV light.
How is micropigmentation performed?
Microblading is done using a hand tool, with a prepackaged, sterile, single use “blade” made up of a grouping of needles. With the appropriate amount of pressure, the skin is scored and the pigment is deposited into the epidermis (outermost layer of skin). Think paper-cuts! Micropigmentation is performed using a machine that works similarly to a tattoo machine. Chan Artistry only uses the finest German made machine created specifically for Micropigmentation.
How long does the procedure take?
the initial micropigmentation procedure two hour long , followed by a one hour long follow up appointment 6-8 weeks later.
Touch up appointments will vary in length.
Can I walk in for a treatment?
Because consultations are such an important part of the micropigmentation process,

Does micropigmentation hurt?
Each individual will have a different experience with the level of discomfort associated with micropigmentation. Some say it is relaxing and that tweezing is more uncomfortable. Others say they feel discomfort, but not right out pain. A topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area before implantation begins, and a secondary anesthetic is applied throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

Is there any special after care?
Yes, there are post-procedure care instructions for micropigmentation.
Why do I need a follow up appointment after my procedure?
Almost all micropigmentation procedures are a multi-session process. Think of it as a buildable enhancement. This is considered a benefit for those that are nervous about the end result being too intense. Often times the first application of pigment in the brows and eyeliner can lose up to 30% of the intensity during healing, and lips can lose up to 50%.
How do you choose the shape and color of my enhancement?
We choose the shape and color of your enhancement together. Whether you are just looking to enhance the fullness of your natural brow, or create a whole new shape, we will take it one step at a time. Your new shape will be applied with a cosmetic pencil first so that you can see how it will look your face. We will not start the procedure until you are happy with what we have created.
Will my micropigmentation look fake?
Not at all! Micropigmentation, when done correctly, heals to a very soft and natural look.
Will my pigment turn undesirable colors?
No, If micropigmentation is done correctly, and you are careful with your sun exposure, your pigment will not turn different colors.
Can I still apply regular makeup?
Absolutely! Permanent makeup is not intended as replacement for evening makeup, but more to accentuate your natural daily look. Additional makeup can always be applied after your micropigmentation has healed for special occasions.
Can I have my brows done if I have no hair at all?
Absolutely, this is a great option for those who DON’T HAVE A LOT OF HAIR
Is micropigmentation safe?
When proper sterilization and disinfection guidelines are met micropigmentation is completely safe.
Channing is well educated, certified and insured.
Channing is very particular about cleanliness and organization, and thorough in consistently following safe procedural steps to to protect herself and her clients.
All needles, hand tools and machine cartridges are new, unopened and sterile. They are opened in your presence and disposed of in a sharps container immediately after the procedure has been completed.
New disposable items such as gauze, swabs, brushes, etc. are used for each client and disposed of immediately after use.
New gloves are used for each client and changed during the procedure when needed.
Barrier film is replaced and hospital grade EPA registered disinfectant is used to clean the treatment areas between each client.
Can I have micropigmentation done if I am pregnant?
Unfortunately this service is not for those who are pregnant.
Can I have micropigmentation done if I am breastfeeding?
After a lot of research, Channing has not been able to find any proof of a negative outcome to mother or child through micropigmentation during breastfeeding. As a result, she has decided that she is comfortable performing micropigmentation on breastfeeding mothers if they so choose, as long as it is done 3 months postpartum. There is a breastfeeding specific portion of the release form.
